New zones in Bonnyrigg are not all that frequent but they do appear once in a while and this afternoon I was in the most fortunate of positions to witness, almost in real time, the sudden appearance of a new zone. And it was not all that far from the house. It was an email that did the trick. At 14:43 up pops a message on the mobile phone, as follows:

Zone-suggestion accepted
Your zone suggestion in Scotland has been accepted, Thanks for helping Turf!

Clicking on the link revealed the new zone was located only a few minutes cycle from the house. The brain then clicked into automatic, no actual conscious thought was involved. Grab phone, lock up house, grab bike, lock shed and ride. Didn’t even realise I’d forgotten my helmet until the wind blow my cap off at the zone. And 24-minutes later, at 15:07, the new zone was mine. Another FTT to add to the collection.

But actually, this was a triple whammy. Firstly, it seems that this zone was one of my own suggestions and I’m very pleased with that. Secondly, I managed to be first to take the zone, so it counts as an FTT. And thirdly, no small delight at getting one over a certain FTT rival* from way out west in Penicuik. Sad I know, but you have to take these small pleasures when you can. Back soon.
