Turf Zone – SingleCask

The Edinburgh Roon. I’ve got some alternative names for the Edinburgh Roon. The first one is Taking The Zone Back Where You’ve Just Been. The second one is Taking The Zone Up The Bloody Hill You’ve Just Freewheeled Down. There are also a few others I best not mention them for fear of getting my blog closed down. Yes, the Edinburgh Roon can be quite challenging at times, especially the hills and those bloody cobbled streets. However, congrats to Fearglas for coming up with the overall mission. And I must say, despite all my grumbling, I love it. More of the same please. How about a spiral mission starting in the city centre and including 250, 500 or 1000 zones?

A good session on Thursday, added another 11 to the total bringing me up to 112 leaving only, (only!) another 28 still to take, starting off with a flurry of holy places beginning at zone 113 StCuthbert. Went slightly off track at one point when I took zone 71 LookAtCraig, which I’ve already taken previously. Not sure how I managed to do that! I only realised I was wrong when I thought I’ve already taking the zones starting with the letter L. Some slight confusion also at zone 106 MeatMarket which appears amongst the zones starting with S. Zone renamed perhaps?

Didn’t manage anything on Friday but back out again into Edinburgh on Saturday. As noted above, zone 113 StCuthbert was the starting off point, followed with another batch of takes bringing my up to a stopper zone, 126 TopOfTheCrags. I guess I could have dragged the Brompton G line up the hill but decided to visit with ChoccyMuffin tomorrow. Much easier turfing Holyrood Park on foot. Bicycle are not permitted off-road anyway. Nothing much to report on today’s session, other than Autumn leaves making the cobbles and any paved areas quiet slippery and care was needed when changing direction.

Now, I’ve been working on a potential mission to add, hopefully, on FRUT. The name at the moment is the Edinburgh Outer Limits, taking in 200 zones around the outskirts of the city, roughly as far as the Cammo area, the city bypass and Musselburgh, with a few short excursions for added interest. Oh, I’ve just realised 200 zones is also the target for the El Staminatore medal, though I don’t know if this list could be completed in under 12-hours. However, no doubt someone will be up for that challenge! Hope to post more on this soon.

So, one more session should see the Edinburgh Roon completed, hopefully, weather permitting, on Monday. I’m actually a bit more mobile now, having inherited my mother’s 10-year-old Ford Fiesta, which means ChoccyMuffin and I no longer need to share the other car. And once the Edinburgh Roon is out of the way, on with Canal Quest 754 Westbound of which I’ve already 51 zones, leaving 160 still to do. Back soon.
