Right, turf stuff and a new toy to share with you. It goes by the name of Quad Lock and nothing more than a very neat mobile phone mount. And I must say I’m very impressed so far, it seems much more secure and stable than my previous mounts. It essentially comes in two parts, the handlebar mount and the mobile phone case. The key is that the mount and phone case lock into each other. To release, you press the blue lever above and twist the case to free the phone.
It’s also ideal when you have more than one bicycle or kick scooter, or even car or motorcycle for that matter. Simply have a different mount in each and the phone will click into each. One issue I had with previous mounts was that they were never totally secure and would rotate when cycling over rough ground, even rough tarmac. This one hasn’t budged a millimetre. It comes with a handy Allen key which I’ve been carrying just in case it needed tightening up. Never needed to use it yet other than adjusting the angle of the mount to find the optimum for viewing the screen.
On the downside, it’s not cheap with the mount and case coming in at £62.00 Yes, there are cheaper alternatives but personally I’m not confident that anything from China.com can be trusted with my Google Pixel 8 Pro mobile phone. One issue I have noticed is it might not be so secure if you attach it to the tapered section of a handlebar. Not sure the mount with be very secure and might slip. I will probably get mounts for my kick scooter and other bikes but want to do some testing first. Finally, there’s a definite knack for aligning the case with the mount. No doubt practice will make perfect. More soon.
