It’s easy to tell yourself that you’re not bothered about the Turf League, about being relegated. You tell yourself that dropping down, or should I say plummeting down, from League 3 to League 4 isn’t a really big issue. You tell yourself you will never achieve League 2, or League One and certainly not Elite, anyway, not in a million years.
Then, one day, after you’ve stopped playing silly buggers where you’ve created a new turf account, changed your turf name and started again from scratch. Then, after only three days, change your mind and revert back to your usual turf account and turf name, which, of course, has accrued a big fat zero for the current Round and is sitting at the bottom of League 3. Then, you do find yourself bothered about being relegated. Better do something about it then!
It’s quite a daunting challenge when you have 0 points in League 3 and the next player above you have around 32,000 points. However, plenty days left on the Round so best thing to do is get out there and take a few zones, a lot of zones. Today, 11 days later, I’ve finally got myself into a more sustainable position with around 118,000 points, a decent gap between myself and the player at the bottom who is on 88,000 points. In addition, there’s another three players below me as well, so I’m fairly comfortable. Will need to keep on adding points though, don’t want to get complacent and lose position again.
It’s good to be back turfing normally again. Today was a day at the seaside, down to Portobello, along to Prestongrange and home again. Also managed to add a few brick marks towards the Brick Spotting 25 unofficial Planet Gary medal with a MUIR ARMADALE at zone BottleKilns, an NCB P-GRANGE, an SBC at zone StrollAway and a PRESTON GRANGE at zone John. Total bricks-in-the-wall now standing at 15. And to finish off the day, an enjoyable chocolate muffin and coffee at Prestongrange Museum. 103 takes today. I always find it surprising when I check on FRUT. Always more than I think I’ve taken. Back soon.
