Now that I’ve stopped playing silly buggers by starting turf again from scratch, as a Newbie, I find I’ve lost three days precious turfing time and have some serious catching up to do. And while I thought that dropping off League 3 down to League 4 would not be an issue, well, it is an issue. I don’t want to get relegated! Grrr, I’m so annoyed with myself. The other turf name I was using, EatSleepTurf, has 55,000 points which would have been mine. Actually, they are still mine! Wish there was a way to combine points from different turf accounts. Same person turfing after all. Not likely, I suppose. But if the Turf Gods are watching from their vast drinking hall in Valhalla, please feel free to go ahead.
At the moment, in League 3, I’m sitting in last place with the nasty downward pointy thing beside my turf name and with only 22,000 points to my name require at least another 17,000 points to avoid the relegation zone. Thankfully, we are still early days into Round #170 with 22 days remaining, so with a bit of hard work should be able to catch up and save my League 3 position. No chance of any promotion this Round when you see how the Group 3 leader is doing. Of course, that all depends on what the other turfers in Group 3 are planning. Guess all I can do is try my best.
Recent days, or more accurately, months, have seen an annoying issue on my mobile phone. My phone is a Google Pixel 8 Pro running Android version 14 and when I switch the display off, the turfman icon stops moving and stays at the last zone taken, only starting to move again when I switch the display back on. In the past, it never used to do this and the turfman would keep beavering away happily in the background and be where he was supposed to be.
Not sure if this is due to an Android update or whatever. Not really a big issue, I suppose, but it does mean that it appears to other turfers that I’m still at the same zone. Yes, I could leave the display on and I do that during the day but prefer not to have that screen glow in my face when kick scooting or cycling at night in the countryside, for example, in Dalkeith Country Park or around Dalhousie where there’s no street lighting. I also find it interferes with my night vision.
Right, after a short session Googling, I seem to have found the answer, in Location permissions for the turf app. It was set to “Allow only while using the app”. I’ve changed this to “Allow all the time”. I’ve been outside and tested the change and the turfman icon keep on working when the display is switched off. Champion. Now all my many viewers in Turf TV can follow my silly o’clock turf antics more closely. Of course, I did experience another more recent turf app issue, the turf app randomly crashing. Most annoying. Need to look into that one now.
Now, off to finish dealing with some common wasps that have taken up residence in the ducting for the kitchen extract fan. Unfortunately, had to resort to puffing in some noxious anti-wasp chemicals and we now have unhappy and somewhat angry wasps emerging from under the washing machine. I made the exciting discovery that it is not a very good idea to stand on one very angry wasp when barefoot. Will not be doing that again. The sharp pointy is to be avoided. Back soon.
