Turf Video 31-08-22

Today’s turf outing was from the turf video to-do list, to walk the stretch of coastline east of North Berwick in East Lothian, at least as far as the old WWII radar research station on Gin Head. There are zones further out but I’m keeping them for another trip, next time on the Surly Pugsley fat bike, riding the beaches down to the Tyninghame House estate.

Today, I’m on foot and followed the busy A198 before dropping down the steep grassy cliffs into the beach to walk back to North Berwick along the sea shore. Again, I want to make a video of the trip this time testing out, and getting to grips with, a new toy in the kit bag, a Rode Wireless Go II microphone.

Overall, I’m delighted with the Rode, it does exactly what it says on the tin. The lessons I’ve learned today are that I’ll need to use the wind baffles, little bit of faux fur that clip on and shield out some of the wind noise. If you are a Star Trek fan from the original series, and also the movie Star Trek: Into Darkness, they look like baby tribbles. Try a Google search if you don’t know what I’m on about. I think I’ll also leave the gain at the default of zero dB and see how that fairs. Back soon.
